The Nassau
Hiking & Outdoor Club (NHOC) is an organization of over
300
people who share an appreciation of the outdoors. The club is involved with
many activities including hiking, camping, walking, horseback riding, bicycling,
picnicking, and just about anything that will broaden our knowledge and respect of
nature. Hikes and activities are graded on their level of difficulty from easy
to challenging, hence, there's something for everyone at NHOC.
Along with the activities listed above
that we enjoy, we participate in trail maintenance and many aspects of
conservation. During the winter months, there are a number of indoor activities
as well as outdoor activities offered.
A
monthly newsletter called "Shorelines" is mailed out to all members updating the
upcoming events as well as current environmental issues. The third Tuesday of
each month there is a meeting (click here for more info &
directions) at the Special Events Center at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY.
All are welcome to come and learn about our organization, meet interesting
people and have a great time exploring the parks, trails, preserves, and historic places
that surround us.
